Artist Statement
My recent work has focused on rural landscape. I have
been drawn to painting country roads, and how these
roads disappears in the distance. The inspiration for
these paintings has been summers spent in northern
Wisconsin. My work also examines the forms in nature
along the roadway, milkweed, tiger lillies and repetition
of rows of corn. I find the patterns these plants make so
pleasing, and I seem to repeat these scenes and forms in
various paintings. The chair paintings began last summer,
and I am still exploring these images set in diminishing
rectangles, influenced by the ratio of the golden section.
